Jana's bachelorette party!

I went to my 3rd bachelorette party in a row this weekend! This one was my cousin Jana's. She's getting married June 30th and it's less than a month away now!! We stayed at Jana's aunt and uncle's house from her other side of the family, Larry and Kathy. They are the nicest and most sweetest hosts we could ask for! Here was our busy and FUN weekend....

FRIDAY
  • 6:00pm left Ankeny
  • a little past midnight made it to the lake without hitting any of the 146 deer we saw. We all were so exhausted and just hit the hay for the night.
we stopped at a gas station on the way
SATURDAY
  • morning: went on a walk with Diane, mom, Jackie, and Ashley
  • layed out in the pool and on the lake all day
  • Larry took us out on a boat ride
  • We got a boat ride on the big yacht to go to dinner. We went to Beaver's or something like that. I just remember the shirts "Beaver Patrol". I got the chicken strips and they were yummy.

SUNDAY
  • morning: decorated cookies, 4 mile walk, layed on the lake, and tried to do tricks on the awesome blue mat
  • we went on the yacht to the restaurant Larry's on the Lake. It was a lot of fun and Larry bought us all shirts that say Larry on them. Thanks again!!
  • Went back to the house and layed by the neighbor's pool and chatted with all the rich folks from St. Louis. We were also trying to figure out how we could afford a house and a boat down there in the future. We were dreaming :)
  • We had burgers for dinner
  • went to Shady Gators....That was interesting...just wait for the pictures. The name is somewhat true. It was kinda shady. We all just found an area with landscaping rocks and perched up there to just people watch and have people come up to us. HILARIOUS!

life lately

I haven't really gotten a chance to talk about our life lately. So here it is. It may sound boring, but that's kind of what I like about it :)

Sean and I walked to the ice cream shop and got the "turtlette" twister...butterscotch, fudge, and pecans. YUM
one of the best places to get ice cream in IC. it's also nice that we can walk there :)

Last Saturday Part 2: Tasting and Jana's shower

Like I talked about in my last post, I had a very busy day last weekend! I had my shower in Boone that I talked about here. But, I forgot to mention the theme of the shower and explain it...sorry for the backwards talking. Anyways, it was an Hour Shower. So, Abby gave each person an hour (or a half of an hour) and each guest was to get a gift that coincides with that hour. How clever is that? It was so awesome and I loved to hear all the explanations for why each gift went with each time. If you scroll down to the last picture from my post about that shower the card read "11 o'clock is is kick off" and their time was 11:00 am. This probably makes a little more sense now. Sorry again!

Back to the rest of the day...

After the shower Sean, Katie, my mom, and I headed to Palmer's in Des Moines for a tasting for our rehearsal dinner. If I wasn't already full enough from the amazing brunch earlier that day I was some how able to pack more food into my stomach!

We were able to taste the ceaser salad (Sean's fav), bourbon meatballs, pulled pork, a curry chicken bake, spinach artichoke dip, and the mac and cheese. I am so excited for the meal at the rehearsal dinner!! YUMMY!!

our half eaten table-we were all too excited to start tasting we didn't even think about taking a picture :)
After the tasting, we headed back to Ankeny and my mom and I went to my cousin Jana's wedding shower. We got a chance to visit with her guests and once again...more food. I'm not saying what all I ate this time. But, I will say that the cupcake and oreo balls were very good :) YUM!

Congratulations Jana! Sorry we weren't able to make the whole shower!

As you can tell from my day so far, it was full of delicious food and wonderful people :) The next post will be about the bachelorette party from Saturday evening.

Last Saturday Part 1: Wedding shower in Boone

This past Saturday was quite busy!! I had wedding showers, food tastings, and a bachelorette party. First, Sean's sister, Abby, threw me a wedding shower in Boone. It was a brunch shower and I LOVE brunch!! They made egg casseroles, fruit and yogurt cups, fruit kabobs, more fruit, muffins, monkey bread, strawberry lemonade, and cupcakes! I'm positive I had at least one of everything and it was delicious!! Also, it was wonderful getting a chance to meet everyone before the wedding!

The guys played golf in the morning during the shower and made it back in time before we had to rush to Des Moines for the rehearsal dinner tasting. I re-wrapped the gun for Sean to open. I think he was pretty excited!!

Thank you again everyone for all the gifts and thank you, Abby for the great shower! I had a lot of fun!!
